- The Cost of Living
Women are charged way more for products from the same brand such as razors, jeans, cars, car maintenance, etc. In too many instances the product is actually of lower quality even though it is priced higher.
- More Bang for Your Buck
AS IN – men often get raises because they are at the office MORE. That extra face time makes it appear that they are working harder than perhaps they are. I think we can all agree that taking longer to accomplish a task does not mean one deserves a raise. Because of the stereotypical woman’s schedule – ya know the one everyone says is why they should get paid less – they get more accomplished in the time they have making them higher quality workers.
- Better Communicators
30 years of studies have shown that women are better at listening to others. The average woman uses 10,000 to 20,000 words in a day while the average man uses 5,000 to 10,000. More communication and listening in the workplace means getting lasting results instead of temporary fixes. According to research, “Females also have more than 10 percent more brain cells than males in the area of the brain called the planum temporale, which has to do with perceiving and processing language.”
If you’ve seen the comedian Mark Grungor you know what I mean. His skit isn’t just funny, it’s factual. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0BxckAMaTDc Men have a tendency to separate everything into separate boxes and it is a cardinal rule that the boxes NEVER get mixed up. Women are better able to hold the baby, figure out hospital bills, respond to work emails and get dinner ready all in one very productive swoop. In the work place that kind of skill leads to greater production and thus greater profit for the company.
- More Education
Women have been earning more bachelor degrees than men since 1982. Women have been earning more Master degrees than men since 1981. Women have been earning more Doctoral degrees than men since 2006.
We’ve stopped this list at 5, but it could absolutely go on. Women, don’t allow men or other women to treat you as though you are less in any way. In many instances the opposite is true. We shouldn’t just be fighting for equal pay, we should fight to be paid what we’re worth.
